About

Us

Bhopali-American and Fulbright Scholar Apoorva Dixit and her childhood friend and podcast producer Molly Mulroy present the story of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and of the Bhopalis who were shaped but not defined by the disaster, of hope, of resilience, and of memory.

Apoorva Dixit

I’m Apoorva Dixit, and I am a Bhopali-American, born on soil scarred by methyl isocyanate—a poison that killed 10,000 people in 1984 in India. And yet, the first time I encountered the words Bhopal Gas Tragedy was sitting in a social studies class 8,000 miles away in Memphis, TN. Motivated to understand why, I returned to Bhopal as a Fulbright scholar and Anthropology major from Dartmouth. I recently gave a TEDx Talk at Duke on the topic. Now, I am pursuing a law degree at Harvard in honor of my grandfather and fellow Bhopalis.

Molly Mulroy

I’m Molly Mulroy. Raised in Memphis, I am Apoorva’s childhood best friend and this podcast’s co-host and co-creator. With a degree in English Writing, I previously produced a podcast for my Honors thesis that won the Jesuit Social Research Institute Award at Loyola University New Orleans. After almost five years living in Morocco, I’m currently back in Memphis, working remotely as the Editor-in-Chief for a digital marketing company.
